Many of you have downloaded the district’s new app named “SchoolWay.” For those of you who have not, it provides immediate notifications (and texts or emails if you choose) from the district including weather closings. In addition, each school, classrooms, clubs and athletics teams can push messages to those who subscribe. To download, visit www.TulsaSchools.org/App.
As we head into the winter months, the district will send SchoolWay notifications about closings or late starts. TPS will also push messages out via Facebook, Twitter and the TPS website.
I am pleased to announce that as of August 25, 2014, Carnegie will offer a full breakfast and a la carte items for our students. We want to offer nutritional service to every child. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria only from 7:15-7:40 each morning, honoring the start time of our school day to be 7:45 am. Please check the TPS website to see pricing and menu items. Students will continue to go to the cafeteria upon arrival in the mornings. If your student does not plan to eat breakfast at school, please adhere to the 7:20 arrival time.
Carnegie Elementary School will strive to form a strong partnership with the Tulsa community to provide a learning environment in which students can develop self-confidence, academic readiness for the future, skills for responsible citizenship, and a desire for life-long learning.
The goal of Carnegie
Elementary is to provide Excellence in Education which concentrates on
the basic skills. The basic Skills include reading, writing, language,
math, science, social studies, and the arts. These basics will prepare
students to live in our changing society. The instruction provided to
the individual learner expects him/her to use the maximum of his
learning ability in a positive school climate which encourages trust,
warmth, and self-discipline.
This mission shall be achieved by the pursuit of these goals:
To help all children develop positive and confident attitudes about themselves.
To help children recognize and respect cultural diversity and the individual worth of others.
To provide balanced curricular offerings in reading, language arts,
math, science, social studies, physical education, and the fine arts.
To teach children to assume responsibility for their work and for their actions.
To diagnose the individual learning needs of children and to prescribe activities which will meet those needs.
To maintain a learning environment throughout the school which is safe, nurturing, and motivational.
To encourage all parents to be active partners in our pursuit of excellence for their children.
