About Us
MISSION
The mission of Carnegie Elementary School is to provide a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through developmentally appropriate instruction. Our school promotes a safe, orderly, nurturing and supportive environment that exposes our students to unique learning opportunities that equip them for future successes. We are proud of our community's commitment and their partnership with our school that supports our efforts in helping our students uRise to Excellence."
VISION
The 2022 vision of Andrew Carnegie Elementary is to immerse students in rigorous educational experiences that grow the whole child (academically, socially, physically and emotionally). We promote college and career readiness, multicultural learning and take pride in our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) programming. At Carnegie Elementary, students "Rise to Excellence."
FOCUS ON LITERACY
We make reading fun at Carnegie! Students are able to earn free dress days by reaching their reading goals. They also have the opportunity to participate in Reading with Paw Pals and to practice their skills by reading to furry friends who come visit our library. By reading to dogs, the students are able to build confidence in their abilities and enjoy the affection that the dogs bring.
PROMOTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
At Carnegie, we strive to educate and nurture the whole child through social emotional learning; encouraging our students and their families to live an active, healthy lifestyle. We work hard to foster a sense of belonging among our students and families and have a tight-knit school community. We intentionally build in time for things like P.E. classes and yoga lessons, and even hold “Movement Monday” weekly. “Movement Mondays” revolve around fitness, and we allow students and faculty to dress in workout gear to help them get in the spirit.
STEAM PROGRAMMING
Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics are integrated into core curriculum at Carnegie. Instruction is project-based, and we focus on making real-life connections to what students are learning in the classroom. Our STEAM Lab gives students a chance to get hands-on experience in these curricular areas and prepares them to move on to Memorial Junior High School, which offers its own top-notch engineering and robotics program.
