Tulsa Public Schools Expands Meal Service to Cover Weekends

Starting on Friday, Oct. 30, Tulsa Public Schools will serve all Tulsa children ages 18 and under three days’ worth of breakfast, lunch, and supper meals free of charge to provide children meals for the weekend. Meals will be available for pick up every Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families who bring their child to meal pick-up will not need to show identification. Service locations are available at www.tulsaschools.org/mealsites.

While parents who bring their child to the meal-sites and stops will not have to provide ID, parents and families can pick up meals without having their student present with one of the following forms of student identification:

  • School report card, student ID card or Clever (distance learning) log-in badge;
  • Child’s passport; birth certificate; government-issued child identification card;
  • Text message from the district’s short-code (67-587);  or
  • Any document providing parent/guardian identity and relationship to the child, such as an adoption decree; doctor, clinic, or hospital record; religious record; or daycare center record.

"We know that food instability continues to be a challenge for families throughout Tulsa, so we are really pleased to be able to expand meal service to cover the weekends," said Superintendent Deborah Gist. "I encourage every Tulsa family who needs it to take advantage of our meals program; we are here to serve every child in the city."

District staff will continue to follow COVID-19 health and safety guidelines for health screenings, personal protective equipment, and safe distancing. Parents and families are asked to follow City of Tulsa safety guidance around face masks and safe distancing.
